Time to Say Goodbye: End of the Year Blues

Posted by ENC Student Life on Apr 24, 2017 7:03:00 AM

Graduation is just a few days away! Finals are almost over and some of your friends might have already left for home. You're probably in the midst of packing up your room and finalizing classwork. Don't let the craziness distract you from what's really valuable, your friends!

Don't forget to say goodbye! It's easy to get wrapped up in the emotion of graduation and forget to actually say goodbye to your friends. Don't let your relatives or packing your dorm room distract you from the people who matter. Be intentional about it and make time to say goodbye to your friends. It doesn't have to be long and drawn out, it can be a simple as a hug. What matters is that you show your friends that they matter to you.

Don't Irish Goodbye - Don't be that person who just never says goodbye. Don't walk away from graduation and never hug your best friend or thank that professor for helping you. Yes it will be emotional and hard, but you owe it to your yourself and to your various friendships to have a real goodbye.

Take Pictures Together -Take pictures of you and your friends doing what you love. Preserve the memories of the fun you had in college. Chances are, you have a smart phone. Use that camera and take a few pictures around campus or on graduation day.

Keep in Contact - Just because you no longer live with your friends or see them in the cafeteria every day doesn't mean you can't talk to them. Be intentional about staying in contact with your friends after graduation. A simple text or a quick call can go a long way to keeping a friendship steady.
